Practical consulting for owner-managed businesses
Ambitions First Group works with founders and small teams on the parts of a business that keep slipping — planning, process and follow-through. We keep the scope tight, put everything in writing, and stay with you while it is put to work.
Why owners call us
Consulting that survives contact with a busy week
Most small businesses do not need a transformation programme. They need a clear look at how the business runs today, a short list of changes in priority order, and someone to keep the work moving once the diary fills up again.
Services
Six ways we work with you
Each service is delivered as a defined piece of work with its own documents, checkpoints and sign-off. Take one, or combine them into a programme.

Fees
Three ways to start, agreed in writing before we begin
Every engagement is quoted as a fixed fee once we have scoped it on a short call. These are the three most common starting points for owner-managed businesses.
Focused Review
From £95
One area of the business examined, with written findings and a short list of changes in priority order.
What is includedOperations Review & Plan
From £145
Two to three areas, a process map with owners against each step, and support while the plan is put to work.
What is includedRetained Programme
From £180 per month
A fixed working cadence through the year, invoiced monthly and reviewed each quarter against the measures we agree.
What is includedFees are confirmed in a written proposal before any work starts. See the full fee structure.
How it runs
Four stages, each with something in your hands
You always know what stage we are at, what we need from you, and what you will receive at the end of it.
Diagnose
We look at how the business runs now — numbers, workload, and where the week disappears.
Plan
You get a written plan with priorities, owners and dates. We agree what we are not doing, too.
Deliver
We work alongside your team while the changes are made — not from a distance.
Review
We check what worked, what did not, and what the next round of work should be.
Industries
Industries we serve
We work with owner-managed businesses in the sectors below. The problems rhyme, even when the products do not.

Trades & Construction
Quoting, scheduling and job handovers.

Retail & E-commerce
Stock, fulfilment and repeat orders.

Professional Services
Time recording, scope and billing.

Hospitality & Food
Rotas, margins and supplier terms.

Health & Wellbeing
Diaries, no-shows and capacity.

Creative & Digital
Pipeline, revisions and retainers.
What you receive
Documents your team will actually open again
Every engagement produces a small set of working documents. They are written to be used in the business, not filed away in a folder.
- Written findings with the issues ranked, not just listed
- A process map of how work flows today, with the weak joins marked
- A responsibility grid so nothing sits between two people
- A phased plan with dates, owners and a realistic order
- Meeting cadence and review points your team can keep running

Working together
Built around the time you actually have
Owner-managers are in the business all day. We plan the work around that, not the other way round.
- Sessions booked in your quiet windows, with an agenda sent beforehand
- Short written updates after every meeting so nothing depends on memory
- We work with the tools you already use before suggesting anything new
- One point of contact for the whole engagement

The first month
What the first four weeks look like
A typical first month on an Operations Review. The pace is set by how quickly decisions can be made in your business.
Week 1We map what happens now
Interviews with you and the team, plus a look at your numbers, tools and paperwork. You receive a summary of what we heard before we propose anything.
Weeks 2–3We agree what changes
Findings are ranked by impact and effort. You decide what goes into the plan and what waits — the priorities stay yours.
Week 4You get the plan and the follow-up
A written plan with dates and owners, a session to hand it to the team, and review points already in the diary.
Where we work
Across the United Kingdom, remote first
We are set up to work remotely with clients anywhere in the UK, which keeps travel out of the fee. For multi-day work we agree visits in advance.
Sessions onlineVideo sessions
Forty-five to ninety minutes, agenda in advance, written summary afterwards.
DocumentsShared workspace
Plans and findings live in one shared folder you keep access to for good.
On siteVisits when it helps
For team sessions or process walks, we attend in person by arrangement.
Questions
A few things owners ask first
How do we start?
With a free 30-minute discovery call and a short questionnaire. If the work looks like a fit, you receive a written scope, a fixed fee and a start date. Nothing is invoiced until you approve it, and there is no obligation to continue after the call.
How is your fee calculated?
By the piece of work, not by the hour. Each engagement is quoted as a fixed fee after the discovery call, based on the areas involved and the number of sessions. Expenses are agreed in advance and itemised separately.
What size of business do you work with?
Mostly businesses with two to fifty people, run by an owner who is still involved day to day. If you are larger, we will tell you honestly whether the way we work suits you.
Do you promise particular results?
No, and we will say so in writing. We are accountable for the quality of the analysis, the plan and the support we give. How well a plan performs depends on decisions and effort inside your business, which we do not control.
Next step
Tell us what is getting in the way
Send a short note about your business and the problem you want to tackle. We reply within one working day with honest advice on whether we are the right people for it.
